Extreme NE Ohio

We could call this the Geneva area because Geneva and Geneva-on-the-Lake are sort of at the center of it all. But calling it extreme puts an exclamation point on it. We love the area and just got back from a two-day visit. The wineries. The lake. The wineries. You get the picture.

This time we stayed in Madison, and it worked out pretty well. We visited M Cellars, Chalet Debonne, and Stonegait Wineries. Three were plenty, even for just having a few tastes at each. M Cellars continues to be a favorite. All of their wines are top-notch. Chalet Debonne has some good ones, but also some that are not quite so great. Same goes for Stonegait, which is only two years old. For this time around, we didn't get to go to Hapersfield or St. Joseph, two of our other favs. I'm concerned that St. Joseph may have been sold since they appear to have changed their name. We'll see. Also, we ate dinner at the Geneva State Park Lodge (Horizons), and lunch (on the way home) at Brennan's Fish House in Grand River. Both were good.

The other thing we did was visit parks. Lots of parks. Let's see if I can remember them all:

Geneva State Park

Riverview Park

Hidden Valley Park

Lakeshore Reservation

Lake Erie Bluffs Park

Osborne Park

All except the first (a state park) and the last (a Willoughby city park) are Lake Metroparks. We walked a mile or two at each one, and each one was very nice!
