Quick Trip to Chicago

Lady A. and I went on a quick trip to visit Daughter Valerie in Chicago. We were lucky to have nice summer weather, since we really packed it in.

We visited the just-recently opened Barack Obama Presidential Center. We walked around the campus for a while, including a walk on the nature trail, through the gardens, and a visit to the library. When it was time to enter the museum itself, we were quite impressed. Why can't all our leaders be so inspiring, smart, hopeful, and all-around good? I truly miss having him as our president.

After dinner at Warehouse Pizza in Lincoln Park, we played trivia with the locals. Our team, the Pizza Seekers, did quite well. We might have done even better had we understood the rules. Alas, the beer and wine that had accompanied the pizza may have had a slightly deleterious effect on our performance.

Early morning run along the lake

After my morning run along the lakeshore, we went on an architectural tour aboard the First Lady. The boat took us up and down the Chicago River, and we got a grand view of the various styles of architecture. The narration was excellent and informative. Too bad I won't remember one iota of it.
